Mandatory Gear

All 160km competitors need to have their mandatory gear checked before they can receive their race pack at Race Check-in. 

There are two options for getting your gear checked:

  • Option 1: On-Line Gear Check. Not available after 29th June 2022 (for race pack mailout only). On-line gear checks can be done after this date, but NO pack mail outs after 29 June 2022

  • Option 2: Have your gear checked at Race Check-In immediately prior to collecting your race pack. This is the least preferable option, as it can make your Race Check-In take much longer.
     

Your are not required  to carry all your mandatory gear with you, but it is mandatory that you have it available at the Start/Finish HQ  aid station tent.

Mandatory Gear you must carry at all times:

  • Mobile Phone ( for photos and to call us if you need us )

  • Whistle

  • Water Bottles or Bladders (capacity to carry 2 litres of water)

  • Compression Bandage (Minimum Dimensions 7.5cm Wide x 2.3m Long Unstretched)

  • Small Backup Light

  • Emergency Space Blanket 

  • Collapsible Cup

Mandatory Gear to be available at the Start/Finish HQ  aid station tent.

  • Main Headlamp + Spare Batteries (required to collect after 1pm Saturday)

  • Long Sleeve Synthetic Fleece Top (100 weight fleece)

  • Long Sleeve Thermal Top (polypropylene, wool).

  • Long Leg Thermal Pants (polypropylene, wool).

  • Waterproof and Breathable Jacket with Fully Taped.

  • Beanie or Buff.

  • Full-Fingered Lightweight Thermal Gloves (Polypropylene, Wool)

Drop bags are to be left at the Start/Finish HQ  aid station tent.

The mandatory gear required to carry, may change if weather conditions are very cold or wet. 

This decision can be made by the Race Director at any time.

 

Please note we will not post any items left behind, it is your responsibility to collect them before 2pm Sunday 17 July 2022

Cut-Offs

You have 41hours (1.00pm Sunday) to complete the full 160 km (100 Mile) course 

  • There will be NO last lap cut off.

  • At 1pm Sunday the Elephant Full Course is officially CLOSED to all runners regardless of where you are on course. All runners will be removed from course.

  • Pacers will be allowed for the last 2 laps [50km or 25km pacer] laps (lap 5,6). Pacers will not be provided. You must provide your own.

  • NO CUPS on course

The course will be closed at 1pm Sunday 17th and all remaining competitors will be removed from the course. 

Pacers

Rules on Pacers

 

50 km Pacer 

  • They must purchase a 50km Pacer entry

  • They will receive a 50km medal once you both complete the 2 laps (50km)

  • You must be ready to start your laps when you are required, regardless of the time.

  • If their 160km competitor has  already pulled out, then their pacer is allowed to leave at 12am to complete the 50km reverse laps solo. They must be finished by 1pm Sunday. Course closes at 1pm, and they will be removed from course once closed. Once they complete the 50km (2 reverse laps) they will receive a 50km medal. 

 

 25 km Pacer 

  • They must purchase a 25km Pacer entry

  • They will receive a 25km medal once you both complete the final  lap (25km)

  • They must be ready to start your 5th or 6th lap (reverse direction) when you are regardless of time.

  • If their 160km competitor  already pulled out before 7am Sunday, then their pacer is allowed  complete in the 25km race. They must be finished by 1pm Sunday. Course closes at 1pm, and they will be removed from course once closed. Once they complete 1 x 25 km lap (they will receive a 25km medal). 

Note - Last lap of the race, lap 6 is called the 'Party Wave' lap. You can have 1x 50km pacer and/or multiple 25km pacers (only on last lap) to help you finish of your race.

 

Party Wave Lap example - 1 Runner, 1x50km pacer, 3x25km pacers to bring the runner home on Lap 6.  

Race Pack Mail out

  • You must do your Online gear check first and pass.

  • On-Line Gear Check. Not available after 29th June 2022 (for race pack mailout only). On-line gear checks can be done after this date, but NO pack mail outs after 29 June 2022

  • Option to have your race pack sent out is on your registration and will cost you $8.95. If you change you mind later and want it sent out. Go back into your registration and pay for the race pack option.

Name on Bib

  • You can put your name, nickname, something funny, group name etc. on your bib. You will be asked at time of registration if you would like something written on your bib. 

  • Cut off date for name on bib is 19th June 2022. If not filled in, your bib will be blank.

  • After this date you will have to write it on with texta if you would like something on it.

Booking a transition tent site 217km, 160km, 100km 

  • When you register, there is a question asking you if you would like to book a tent site to set up your transitions. If you would like somewhere to have your chair, table, swag for example, please book then.

  • If you decide later that you are bringing support crew or there are a few of your friends also running and you did not book at registration. Please email us run@coastaltrackandtrailrunners.com.au and ask for us one.

  • There is an option also on your on-line gear check form to book a site also.

Rules transition tent site 217km, 160km, 100km 

  • Sites are only for 217km, 160km, 100km runners

  • Sites are 3m x 3m. You must use a 3m x 3m market style tent. What you put under it is up to you (we do not supply the tent).

  • Van site may be available for 217km runners only ON REQUEST (must talk to RD's)

  • NO CAMPERVANS OR CARAVANS of any type (please do not ask, limited space)

  • Do not turn up race day and expect you will have a site if you do not book. This will not happen. Booking only and they are free.
